Rocco’s Wood Fired Pizza

Posted on

Greeted and seated promptly by the host with a choice of sitting up front or in the back with the high boy tables. We decided to have a more relaxing dining experience and sat up front. The server seemed awkward at first but warmed up to us after talking with her. I asked for a local brewery beer and she recommended Flying Bison Rusty Chain which is a smooth Red Ale…and Jessel had Brooklyn Brown an American Brown Ale. We are here on vacation to visit Niagara Falls, being from CHICAGO we had to try some PIZZA! IT IS A MUST HAVE!!! We ordered the housemade meatball pizza (small 12″) with peppers, and fresh mozzarella. They use a wood burning oven @ 900 degrees….we also ordered their chicken wings that were also baked in the wood burning oven marinaded in lemon, garlic, olive oil and herbs…definitely healthier than your normal wing joint! I highly recommend eating here when passing by and want a fresh, and delicious PIZZA! Acknowledged on the way out as well! 2 THUMBS UP!!

Hands On| Modern Thai and Sushi Bar

Hello Foodies! It sure has been a while since my last posting, since my laptop was down and I was out of commission. Here’s the latest update and more to come since my work schedule has been better, which means more dining and more blogging =)

Jessel and I have eaten here 3-4 times and we were shocked to see a local japanese/thai restaurant. Gave it a try and sure enough we came back for more! I must say, we are fans! The staff is friendly, great service, BYOB, we must’ve tried all the rolls by now and highly recommend the 7 ancient wonders, which is their signature rolls filled with bold flavors and spices! Thai iced coffee and thai iced tea are refreshing as well. They even gave us a free (crab rangoon) appetizer on our 2nd visit…
Seaweed poppers are a nice appetizer! Prices are not so bad and quality and presentation is great! I dont know why this place seems to be empty when we go but you all need to get out and try this place out!! Take advantage of their Happy Hour friday and sat evenings 9pm til midnight! Ambiance is nice and cozy, candles at dinner with dimmed lighting, and the walls are my favorite color..ORANGE =)

4 out of 5 is a good thing…still have to try the Thai Menu…and never had room for dessert just yet…will get around to it soon though!

Good Eats here…you wont be disappointed!

Epic Burger on North Ave…Restaurant Review

Posted on

I went to the one on North Ave. and its a pretty good burger…nothing to be wowed about. I had the Cheeseburger with an egg and wisconsin cheddar. The strawberry milkshake was great! Service was great! The price for an Epic Burger and a shake is a little steep…but the portion size is reasonable. The 4th star was for the good service and the shake made me happy. Its no In-N-Out burger though hehehe…still prefer Red Robin Royal burger with free refills on the fries over the Epic…

4 out of 5 stars….4th star is for friendly service….

Ay Ay Picante Restaurant Review

We ate here last night with my godson and his parents by their recommendation. I must say it is awesome! Amazing! Our server went over the menu and made recommendations. Warm bread service with this slightly spicy avocado spread was delightful. Calamari for appetizer was really good along with an empanada. The portions are generous with Peruvian spices…mmm MMM delicious. You must order the Ceviche Mixto (Tilipia Shrimp and Octopus) with sweet potato and corn OH MY!!, the Lomo Saltado is a must. Dont forget dessert, the tres leches was oh so good! Now I know why my godsons favorite cake is tres leches, they perfected it, I wanted more but was really full. This is my first 5 star review for flawless service, nice ambiance, perfectly seasoned food with generous portions, and its BYOB….I will be eating here again, thats for sure! What are you waiting for, go out and TRY IT =)
Good call Alberto and Clarisa!! This restaurant is on the top of Chef O’s list!

Tava Fresh Taste of India Restaurant Review

Went to eat here about 2 weeks ago and it was awesome!! This is a pretty new Indian restaurant and sure is a Fresh Taste!! From the moment we walked through the doors…the service was flawless and the food was seasoned nicely. Greeted at the door, seated right away by the fireplace on a cold winter night, white tablecloths, and the amazing smell of the cuisine. They had $5 martinis that we skipped on, started with Calamari Bhaji and was cooked perfect, our server also brought out homemade flatbread with their homemade chutney that was really tasty! She had the Tava Mix Grill that had a little of everything, Tandoori Chicken and shrimp, boti kebab, and reshmi kebab…very good and highly recommended as it is one of the house specialties. I enjoyed a plate of the Fish TIkka Masala, fresh mahi-mahi fillet marinated in yogurt and spices roasted in tandoor and sautéed with indian seafood masala, that packed some heat, also another Tava specialty. Our server thought we ate there before, but it was our first, she said awesome choices. And finally DESSERT, their homemade MANGO icecream is the best, i mean BEST MANGO ICE CREAM I EVER HAD, it beats out the Filipino brand Magnolia by far! YOU MUST HAVE IT…The only thing I am not used to is that the side dishes like flatbread or rice is a la carte…but I can get used to it…i feel that by ordering a la carte, you appreciate to read exactly what you want to get for your side dish, we ordered the garlic flatbread (garlic naan) yummy!!

TAVA is definitely on the right track and has a great menu selection and friendly wait staff! It is a welcoming and warm environment, even the manager came by our table and the CHEF came out to another table to answer some customers questions. Will be a return customer for sure!

4.5 out of 5 STARS this is a must dine at restaurant for an awesome taste of Indian Cuisine!!

This is my first blog on dining out at restaurants on yelp…Went to eat here for the first time this evening because we had a Groupon…I like that there was an enclosed outdoor patio, it caught my attention right away as we entered inside. Greeted and seated by the hostess. Had to show our groupon to our server, Sophie and she was cool with it…unlike some places, where the servers tuck in their mind,  ughhh, not another groupon=not going to get a good tip…(lol) Ordered hot tea, green tea with a toasted rice flavor, which our server did mention. Miso soup was good…went straight for the rolls tonight. We ordered, dragon roll, godzilla roll, crunch roll, and spider roll. Presentation was beautiful, taste was really good…Dragon roll is my favorite roll, but I still prefer my favorite sushi restaurant. Our server followed up  when needed along with refills, etc. Bathrooms were really clean. Great place to eat and will come back for appetizers and desserts. Not too loud, not too dark…Greeted on the way out from the chefs and even got a $15 card when we come back, which I just might pass on to my friends at work for them to try it out since they love japanese cuisine, if I am nice 😉 otherwise I will definitely make use of it. Couldnt recall if it was kid friendly…It also looked like a private table for 2 in the back of the restaurant which i thought was neat…Overall, a great local place for good sushi, reasonable prices, definitely great service, and would like to try drinks, apps, and dessert next time and the chef specialty roll menu as well….4 stars for great service and good food!
